What took you so long

Finally, last week the Task Force, KPA & DWH, paid courtesy visits to the bars, doing brisk business all along in spite of GOA’s restrictions and measures.

I guess if you sell bitterballen at the bar, you can call yourself a restaurant here, and remain fully operational.

It is a fact that La Oficina in Tanki Leender has been a major offender all along with Yen Yen in Noord.

I pass both petri dishes frequently on my way to the supermarket and am always amazed how the locals can be so carefree, and careless, when the country is asking for their help in stopping the spread of the virus.

It is true that the virus is everywhere, and we should stop looking at the number of new infections, we should also stop calling these people patients, because they are just virus carriers, infected, and if lucky their symptoms are light, depending on their age and the strength of their immune system.

We should all worry however, about the hospital, and dedicate more resources to the support our failing health system.

For more information about the critical situation of our health care system please read an article by Sharina Henriquez: https://caribischnetwerk.ntr.nl/2020/09/14/dubbel-crisis-voor-arubas-enige-ziekenhuis/

She says: Aruba’s only hospital has an extra tough time: it has been in the red for millions since 2018 and has had a year full of costly incidents – fire, computer hacking, asbestos removal, budget cuts, just to name a few.

The hospital started facing the crisis on its knees, just like this country.

In a recent interview in the Telegraf, Maribelle Tromp says: I am really concerned. As a microbiologist I fear now much more admissions. The elderly and vulnerable are now becoming infected by the youth. Moreover, the hidden infectious population in the illegal group. Those are not going to test or to a doctor since they are afraid to be caught and deported.

I checked if indeed. Yes. DVG just refers people to their house-doctors if symptoms occur, BUT if you have NO house doctor, what do you do then?

You go back to your community, and you spread the virus unchecked.

DGV should think about an alternative, there must be a way by which undocumented residents get access to health care. Think about it, it’s a human right, and think about it FAST.

I also think it is time for the MinPres to reveal the member-names of the Management Team and the Crisis Team.

We have people taking decision regarding our future, and we do not know their identity.

Why?

Because they do not wish to be accountable, or held responsible?

They want to remain anonymous, in case they duck up?

I personally think people take better decisions, they weigh things more carefully, when their identity is known and they are held responsible.

Let’s hear their names.

WHO’S ON THE CRISIS TEAM.  WHO’S ON THE MANAGEMENT TEAM.
