We’re going for the record . . . Hopi Fun expected during the third consecutive Flora’s Clown Doctors Caminata

golf-121Submitted by by Heleen Bongers. The countdown for the third edition of Flora’s Clown Doctors Caminata has begun. Last Tuesday afternoon quite a lot of members of the local press showed up for a special press conference, held at Flora. They learned that this year’s event is going to be a super happening, as Aruba is going for the Guinness World Record of wearing the most red noses possible for ten minutes straight. The Clown Doctors hope that Aruba’s citizens, young and old, fat and thin, gorgeous or just great, will show up and participate in this unique event. They pray that these ten minutes will be a major hit on You-Tube and that participants are going to enjoy a second of world-fame. During the ten minutes prior to the start of the Caminata, the Frozen Moment will be initiated by emcee Ruben Garcia. A total of 1001 people are expected to join in!

Sponsors of the Caminata are Flora, Romar Trading, EZ Party Solutions, the Kukoo Kunuku bus, Visser, Idefre, the Aruban Police force, ProGraphics (with the poster design) and Claro as godfather and ‘Padrino’ of the Clown Doctors, Ruben Garcia, elaborated upon. Godmother Rona Coster could not be present at the press conference, but she is busy getting local celebrities together who are going to assist the notary and bailiff in officially registering the event. TeleAruba’s Robert Ras is going to film the event so that everything will be ready for Aruba to become the first island to be put on the map with a fantastic group of people wearing red noses.

Registration for the 6-kilometer Caminata starts at 3 pm on Sunday, April 19; the cost is AWG. 10,– per person. The start of the fun walk is planned for 5 pm. Pre-registration is possible at Flora and at Idefre, when participants will receive their tee-shirts. The red noses will be doled out at Flora’s on the 19th..

So what can you expect? A great fundraising event in carnival style, with cartoon figures, lots of great music, a party bus for those with blisters or debilitating fatigue, ambiance and a snack and a drink afterwards. Don’t register late, as the tee-shirts might have run out of stock. A special surprise after the Caminata is in the planning stage…
