John Oster, the owner of Fly n’ Dive joined the celebration at Havana Beach Club to congratulate new Padi certified dive instructors, which were an impressive bunch of dreamers. Course instructor Steve Vanderauwera from F&D was in charge of the curriculum, coaching 7 international students ranging in age from 27 to 68. It was an extensive program of 7 days, followed by 2 days of exam, 12 to 14 hours of physical exertion a day. Then an instructor from Padi headquarters in the USA oversaw the final exams.
Congratulations to the new instructors, Jeffrey, from Holland, previous an IT man; Bas, from Holland, currently a sergeant with the Dutch Marines stationed in Aruba; Thomas, from Germany, a boat builder residing in Amsterdam who also loves windsurfing, a regular Aruba visitor; Ken, from the USA, another IT man, who comes several times a year to the island, whose goal is to help boy scouts from the USA enjoy diving; Canicio, from Aruba, a PE teacher for 3rd graders who loves diving, spear-fishing, kite surfing and all sports in general, who is very serious about protecting the environment, and the island’s coral reefs. Mike, from Canada, 68 years old, fulfilling a long time dream, and Rafael, from Brazil, a physiotherapist, whose dream it was to travel and dive around the globe.
