We were invited to an informative presentation by Trampolin Pa Trabao, aiming to include more individuals with limitations, physical and intellectual, in the job market.
Trampolin by definition is a jumping board, and the idea is to provide coaching and guidance, to help those with a desire to work, to make their dream come true.
According to Job Coach Lionel Rumnit, the desire to work is more important than the ability, because people with a strong wish to participate and contribute can be coached, taught, and molded into productive, eager to please workers – the right people in the right job.
At the beginning of the evening Lionel picked his way, carefully, through a series of slides to explain the process of introducing an individual with limitation to work, he covered all angles in great detail hoping to convince parents in the audience, to give their children a chance to try, providing there are willing.
To illustrate his point a client of Trampolin, a handsome young man on the autism spectrum, addressed the audience. He talked about his journey, through several positions, over time, until he landed his current job at Hyatt Place, where he is very pleased with his colleagues and the type of work required of him. It took patience and time, on behalf of the client, the parents, the employer and the job coach, to achieve a good result, a win-win situation.
Clients of Trampolin were successfully employed at the Marriott, Gianni’s Restaurant, Daltra, Price Mart, and other foundations in growing numbers before the pandemic. And now, all stakeholders including GOA’s department of Social Affairs and Flexo Manpower, are ready to rock n roll once again, and increase the number of employed Trampolin clients to pre-pandemic level.
Both Social Affair, and Flexo Manpower made a presentation where they explained to parents and guests, how the system works and the kind of aid and support available.
We all know that in the past less than perfect children were hidden from public view but now there is more acceptance towards god’s imperfections and Trampolin and Job Coach Rumnit are determined to make a difference, and bring forgotten/hidden individuals out into mainstream society.
If you would like to try employ a person with limitation at your business, call Lynn Maduro, the strategic Manager of Trampolin Pa Trabao, and let’s see if we can help that great organization spread its message around for more tolerance and inclusion.
