The First Donkey Calendars for 2013 are now available

The first copy of the 2013 Donkey Calendar was presented under the watchful eye of photographers and various camera crews, at Fusion, the new Piano & Wine Bar in the brand new renovated Alhambra Casino & Shops. The first calendar was handed out by Desiree Eldering on behalf of the Aruba Donkey Sanctuary, to Alex Nieuwmeyer, the Managing Director of the Divi Resorts in Aruba and Bonaire. Nieuwmeyer is also a board member of AHATA, the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association. The presentation was attended by donkey sanctuary residents Ban Ban and the four month old Well Done.

Alex Nieuwmeyer was thrilled to be the first person to receive a copy of the calendar. According to Nieuwmeyer, the work done at the Donkey Sanctuary by its volunteers is invaluable, and deserving much praise. The foundation helps keep part of the Aruban culture and the donkeys’ habitat in check, which is extremely important as part of an environmentally responsible mindset. The associates of the Divi manage a special charity foundation and they regularly support social causes on the island, including the Donkey Sanctuary.

The donkeys’ calendar, in its fourth edition this year and has become quite famous for its pictures and design. The pictures are taken by photographer Luc Peek, while Saskia Aanhane Direct Result advertising agency, is responsible for the design. This cooperation led to a beautiful calendar in A3 format, printed in full, brilliant colors. This year, 12 volunteers of the Donkey Sanctuary were also recognized for their contributions. On each month’s page, you may see a pretty image of a donkey, as well as a picture and a short story about a local volunteer. The board of the Aruba Donkey Sanctuary wanted to demonstrate its appreciation for the hardworking volunteers.

You may pick up your own copy of the calendar at Awg. 25,- at the Aruba Donkey Sanctuary, but it will also be available for sale via the foundation’s volunteers and at  Veterinary Contreras Clinic, the Bestial shop, En Vogue Coiffures and the local Pia di Oro. Aside from these locations, the calendar will also become available at various stands during the weekend in the upcoming months at larger supermarkets, such Ling & Sons Supercenter and Super Food. Finally, you may purchase your copy of the calendar via the sanctuary’s website: www.arubandonkey.org
