The Aruba Convention Bureau helped sponsor the sixth annual PMPI Leadership Event in Washington DC. Pictured here Donna Del Gallo, Regional Director of Sales, Aruba Convention Bureau, (formerly Meet Aruba) showing the Aruba video to about 70 people in attendance at this event.
The speakers for that day were Emory Austin and Maria Seiler who is the Vice President of Diversity for Carlson Hotels.
MPI, Meeting Planners International, is the largest professional organization for the meetings and convention industry in the world with more than 20,000 members in 60 countries.
MPI members collectively account for a total of 10.9 billion expended on meetings per year, representing some 610,662 conclaves held throughout the world. These individuals control an average annual budget of $1.4 million and are each responsible for booking at least 1,200 room nights per year.
PMPI is the Potomac chapter of MPI. It is the second largest MPI chapter in the world with over 1000 members – 54% of whom present the planner community. The rest are suppliers such as Hotels, Convention and Visitor Bureaus, which the Aruba Convention Bureau would also like to interest in the island in order to book some group business for the local tourism industry.
