TGI Friday is here

Paseo Herencia

TGI Friday’s hosted a bartender contest at Paseo Herencia a few weeks ago, with an on-fire bottle throwing contest, in front of TGI Friday’s, as the restaurant terrace was inaugurated. It was TGI Friday’s opening week and the place was real busy. In honor of the inauguration TGI Friday hosted three days of free food for the masses, feeding the press, then feeding dignitaries free of charge. Owner David Apelbaum, a hospitality veteran from Caracas was visibly pleased as he opened the eatery with perhaps 300 people in attendance. His speech which was long, thanked the entire roster of locals who helped including investor Milton Harms, Romar Trading. Apelbaum reported Aruba is the 58th country on TGI Friday’s list and that the company hired seventy five locals to work, training them with the help of corporate professionals for the past weeks. The opening, by Tera Group featured too many people, too little service, as the restaurant was packed and invitees waited patiently for libations. Next time, use to plaza to have a stand up cocktail party, right? The management team, with Ashwin Engelhart & Daniel Werleman, are a bunch of cuties. The hostess in front, Gillian, is a doll and we enjoyed the food and the ambiance when we went back a few days into the life of the restaurant for a casual dinner before the movies. Perfect . . . .
