School kids receive tablets donated by Divi & Tamarijn All Inclusive!

The press was invited just recently to visit elementary school Pius X in Dakota, as representatives of Divi & Tamarijn all-inclusive delivered 200 tablets to the eagerly awaiting students who from now on will be studying math and other complicated subjects on an interactive Dutch platform, with their teacher as coach and mentor, helping them through the curriculum at their own pace.

Divi & Tamarijn have been involved with the school for many years, and it shows. The facility, classrooms and gym hall, is nicely painted and in excellent state of repair, including flowering pots everywhere, the classrooms are all air-conditioned and a list of future projects is continuously compiled.

The resorts’ Managing Director, Alex Nieuwmeyer, had the distinct pleasure of handing out the tablets purchased, from a local purveyor.

The school, under management of the SKOA foundation, Stichting Katholiek Onderwijs, is part of the catholic education network on the island with 15 kindergartens, 25 elementary schools, 5 secondary schools and 1 school for students with special needs.

SKOA representatives on hand expressed gratitude to Divi & Tamarijn All-Inclusive and explained that digitalizing schools in Aruba is an involved process, that includes teaching-the-teachers, and carefully preparing an infrastructure to accommodate change in classroom teaching methods.

The kids took to the tablets like pros flicked them on in no time, and were ready to start learning.

Divi & Tamarijn All Inclusive was paired with Pius X on the Kids Council platform, initiated by Dutch Princess Laurentien in which local 6 graders were asked to brainstorm resolving adult challenges, in hospitality.

The initiative, now in its six year, resulted in a fruitful collaboration beyond Kids Council, and Divi & Tamarijn All Inclusive deserves recognition for the ONGOING good work it does in our community.
