Romar Trading Hosts a Gourmet Food and Wine Pairing at the Radisson

An elegant group of local food-lovers enjoyed a unique opportunity to indulge their passion for the finer things in life  as some of Chile’s greatest wines were poured this past Saturday, at the Radisson Aruba Resort Casino & Spa at the Sunset Grille, the resort’s 4-diamond AAA rated restaurant.

The evening starred one of Chile’s top Chefs, Ruth Van Waerebeek, the Executive Chef of Concha Y Toro, who travels the world promoting the wineries stellar collection of wines.

Chef Ruth delighted guests with her cooking, some of the recipes have been handed down to her from her Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, when she lived in Belgium as a child, growing up surrounded by a rich tradition of home-cooking.

The chef was supported by the resort’s culinary brigade with Executive Chef Kien Fat Lie Kwie and presented for appetizer Quinoa and Crabmeat croqettes with citrus & herb salsa paired with Terrunyo Sauvignon Blanc. The first course, a Chilean classic presented Gratineed Scallops on a bed of crispy vegetables and parmesan butter, paired with the Amelia Chardonnay.

The secound course featured Kashmiri Lamb and tomatoes casserole with sweet spices and chickpweas, cilantri churney, basmati rice and almonds paired with Marques de Casa Concha Syrah.

The main course, Warm Carpaccio of Black Angus Beef in tree pimiento adobo, bitter greens and truffle scented vinaigrette was paired with Dom Melchor Cabert Sauvignon, an all time favorite, at the top of the line at Concha Y Toro.

For dessert Chef Ruth made Chestnut and Bitter Chocolate Truffle Cake with mixed berry caramel sauce, with was nicely married with Marques de Casa Concha Merlot.

The memorable evening at the Sunset Grille was enhanced by attentive service and Chef Ruth’s charming commentary before and after the meal, promoting her brand and its iconic top scoring lines.
