Tessa Pietersz is a household name in Aruba and synonymous with Trend Alert. Who isn’t familiar with Trend Alert? It’s been on the air, on line, for decades reporting on what’s new and what’s happening, in retail and culinaria.
Tessa was an influencer and a media personality before the terms were even coined.
After-all she is second generation TV powerhouse, as the daughter of Tom Pietersz, of ATV fame.
Trend Alert was going dandy, Tessa could do it in her sleep, stand in a store, perfect makeup and hair, high heels, the picture of stylishness, describing for her viewing audience the wonders on boutique shelves, and restaurant kitchens.
For years.
Then her little internal she-devil told Tessa she couldn’t be tamed, did not want to behave and refused to be caged, and insisted she make a career tweak, throw caution to the wind, follow her heart into the kitchen to explore a new passion. Baking.
They say that cooking is art, and baking a science.
Apparently Tessa is good at measuring precisely and following baking rules, on her journey to baking perfection.
And she found her niche. Drunken cakes, infused with alcohol, Amaretto, being a big favorite.
That’s how mid-pandemic, Drunk’s denial was born.
It has been around before, but never in the open.
I personally love her red-wine cake and bought it on several occasions, as birthday presents.
Tessa delivers the fantastic treat in a fancy box tied with a dramatic ribbon.
The next mountain Tessa wished to climb was an actual outlet, and Paseo Herencia welcomed her with open arms.
You may find Tessa today in a cupcake shaped kiosk, the cutest, adjacent to a matching black and white ice cream stand, all liquor infused flavors, and a local souvenir boutique with truly made in Aruba food items and goodies.
To recap:
Drunk’s Denial just opened at Paseo Herencia the super cute specialty baker with Tessa Pietersz. Stop by for delicious Italian espresso, Lavazza, and cake:
Pistachio, Rum, Amaretto;
Amaretto Almond;
Champagne Strawberries;
Champagne Mandarin;
and Mojito Cheesecake.
I also love her Baba au rum, a Creole specialty.
All liquor infused. To quote the great priestess of baking: I will not be tamed, I will not behave, I will not be caged. Tessa Pietersz #drunksdenial, @DrunksDenial, drunksdenial.com
