With the support of RBC Royal Bank at the helm of partners, Art Rules has provided arts education for over 600 kids since its beginnings in 2010. Together with local businesses Art Rules has made it possible to not only invest in youth development, it has also motivated and support hundreds of Aruban teens to ether pursue a study in the Arts; currently there are more than 50 Art Rules alumni’s studying arts abroad.

This and other forms of entrepreneurship has brought so many former students to gain several opportunities not only with credited organizations but also as independent artists showcasing their work. From exhibitions, releases to programming on festivals, Art Rules Aruba Students are making a name for themselves around the world.

Founders Ira and Ayra Kip are truly exited that their vision for an Educational Arts platform is still growing and are exited to have been able to offer Art Rules on not just Aruba but now also on our sister island Curaçao where “Art Rules Curaçao” is gearing up for its 2nd edition.

The highlights for this years Aruba program is its “Master Edition” which stands for the team of Master Educators come to the island to teach. They are not only highly experience and educated themselves, they are also somewhat famous in their respective field, such as Creative Writing Teacher Lemon Andersen, who is an Emmy Award winner and New York Times 2010 writer Playwrite, Director, Poet and Performer. Amongst the youth better known for his famous performances on Russell Simmons’ Def Poetry Jam.

Another well-known and highly experienced Educator this year is Art Rules DJ Teacher Young Guru. Known as one of the worlds’ most famous audio engineers and record Producers, Young Guru is the #1 engineer and DJ of Rap Mogul Jay Z and Producer of Beyonce. YG is an expert in sound and creating music, which will of course broaden the material he will be teaching in his class.

Also extending the program globally in this Master Edition, Art Rules will for the first time invite an Educator from Africa. Introducing South African Theater practitioner, Activist and Performer Thokozani Ndaba. Miss Ndaba is a former Ford Foundation Fellowship recipient, who completed her Masters Degree at New Yorks NYU’s Steinhardt Educational Theatre. She is currently based in Johannes Burg.

The Master team sure promises an elevation of Art Rules to a more advanced level and applicants are encouraged to therefore make an effort in writing the required motivation letter which is part of the application procedure.
“We are not selecting the most experienced artists, we are however selecting the most ambitious and most passionate applicants whom truly want to continue ether an education or career in the arts. As this will enables us the opportunity to take the project a step further and provide some guidance to these students once the program is completed”. As told by founder Ayra Kip, Art Rules is going to focus on quality over quantity, where long term guidance and coaching is also possible.

Art Rules Aruba will commence from July 20th till July 31st with a big final showcase on Saturday August 1st at Atelier 89, which is where the whole project from kick off to end, will also take place.
