The annual Wine, Food & Art Festival at the Westin Aruba Resort was highlighted by the final event, Discover the Sparkle of Champagne dinner.
Just after popping the first bottle of champagne Pascal Bony, the LVMH, Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton man in the Caribbean, took the tingling-with-anticipation grand ballroom through the history of Champagne and the man who is credited with inventing it, or rather perfecting it, Dom Perignon, a 17th century Benedictine monk who was the cellar master of an abbey in the Champagne region of France.
Bony explained the different varieties of grapes that go into the production of the famed bottles and revealed the great surprise for the evening, Dom Perignon Champagne 2000, served with the Rack of Lamb main course, a most incredible champagne, a vintage bubbly that is not made every year – just 86 times, since the mid-nineteenth century, and is currently the definition of luxury, as it is produced from the finest grapes grown on 100% rated vineyards.
The dining adventure that night was paired with Aruba Trading Company’s exquisite champagnes, Rose Imperial Champagne, non Vintage; Moët Et Chandon Grand Vintage Champagne; Liqueur Imperiale; Dom Perignon Champagne 2000, a surprising Argentinean Afincado Malbec with the salad, and Nectar Imperial for dessert, complementing an outstanding menu.
The evening culminated at the Sirocco Lounge over cigars and Hennessy cognacs.
