Pride Month in Aruba

Over the past few years Cas Di Cultura has been the epicenter of Pride month activities on the island. Last night it hosted members of the community for a Warmup, titled Queer ‘N’ Cozy, where an interactive session was hosted by Fundacion Orguyo, HIAS and Famia Planea.

Also, on the program Poetry and Spokenword by Basha Foundation, a Queer Art Expo, and as a festive conclusion to the night, Musical Drag Bingo hosted by the fabulous, entertaining Allan Kock.

I always found Aruba a very inclusive island, and it shows.

RBC Bank has been flying the Rainbow flag this week and Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort has three flags side by side, the Dutch kingdom, Aruba and the Rainbow flag. My friends at the resort tell me almost 50% of the people working there are members of the LGBTQ+ community, contributing to the resort’s international fame and stellar reputation.

I checked Wikipedia: The rainbow flag reflects the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community and the spectrum of human sexuality and gender. Introduced in 1979, with just six stripes: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple — red on top like the natural rainbow.

You must have noticed on social media that the Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino is running a contest on its Facebook // Instagram, with just one Grand Prize of a dream wedding at Hilton Aruba, including the tropical venue, elegant catering, and stylish accommodations, for up to an exciting value of $25,000.

All LGBTQ+ couples who live in Aruba or the United States who are looking to get married or renew their wedding vows, are eligible to enter the contest by posting a video/reel on Facebook or Instagram about their unique love story.

The contest will be running the entire month of June, from 3rd to 30th, 2024, and the winning couple will be contacted by July 15, 2024.

The Aruba Wedding Giveaway, in honor of Pride month, highlights love and equality. The panel of judges viewing the materials will have a fantastic time, in front row seats to the great love stories of our times.

The contest is simple. No other requirements except a creative, fun video, less than 5 minutes long, that must be hash-tagged #HiltonArubaPride, @HiltonAruba.

Couples sending an entry to the contest should have public profiles so the resort may view their other video materials.
