Press Appreciation Day event at the Hilton Aruba Resort & Casino

In Aruba, Press Day is celebrated on September 1st with great fanfare. Members of the media receive gift baskets delivered to their offices, some local companies arrange special events, outings, karaoke and cocktail parties.

Traditionally on that day, the community recognizes local media outlets, thanking journalists, reporters, and media professionals for their work, reflecting on the importance of a free press in a democratic society, and advocating for press freedom, in places where speech and opinions are threatened. The island’s members of the media play a crucial role in informing the public, holding institutions accountable, and protecting our democracy.

At the Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino the desire to offer a memorable event led organizers to think out of the box and organize a special treat for local members of the press as the last closing event in September.

Management team welcomed the members of the press at the newly renovated Sunset Bar for a cocktail followed by Paint & Sip by famous local artist Elisa Lejuez. The idea behind this workshop is to allow participants to disconnect from their daily routines and let their inner artist express itself for an hour. After the Sip & Paint session invitees were escorted for a beach dinner experience where sumptuous dinner was served in a lovely setting with live music, flowing cocktails and delicious food.

“We wanted to thank press members for their continued support with the Paint, Sip & Dine event and we hope that it gave them a chance to relax as we admire their hard work says Marketing Manager Joanne Dirksz”
