Patrick Sydow Shines at a Recent South American championship in Venezuela

Oranjestad — Aruba Junior Davis Cup tennis team is preparing for the qualifying round in El Salvador in a couple of weeks. In the last two years Aruba has finished number 3 and 2 in the tournament. Only one team can qualify among 16 Central American and Caribbean countries. This has never been won for Aruba before, but this

year the island is the favorite to qualify.

Patrick Sydow ranked number 1 in Aruba and currently the number 1 in South America will lead the team to a possible victory. This week he won the South American championship COSAT sub 16, the only male athlete to win back to back, since last year, when he won it under the sub 14 category.

It is a great accomplishment and it serves as preparation for the JDC to be played in El Salvador. Aruba is a small country but the heart of the Aruba Team is as big as any of the other 16 countries competing.

Below pictures of Patrick receiving the trophy after his victory in the finals over Felipe Acosta from Argentina 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3) after a 3 hour match.
