NEW CARRENTAL. CarVenience is affiliated with Garage Centraal they just acquired a fleet of Hyundai Accents, brand new, and are open for business. I brought my car for service at the garage, and got some wheels from the car rental across the street for a discounted rate. That’s the way to go, just don’t tell Anky from Wheels2Go that I have been untrue. I always rent from them, they are great, but this time for convenience I rented from CarVenience. It’s a winner. RUTH’S CHRIS’S NEW MENU ITEMS. When I think about Ruth’s Chris restaurant I don’t want them to change anything or improve anything because it’s perfect. I love everything about it, and it is my favorite for special occasions, birthdays in particular. It’s definitely not an everyday thing. This week the press was invited to sample two new menu items, classic recipes with a contemporary twist. We sampled the Chilled Seafood Tower, featuring Maine lobster, crab legs, lump crab meat, and jumbo shrimp, with two different cocktail sauces, one of them spiked with Sriracha; and a colossal Tomahawk Ribeye steak, USDA Prime Bone In, 40oz, nicely marbled and grilled to perfection, ready to be shared. For dessert the restaurant now features a white chocolate bread pudding with a choice of four spirited Crème Angliase, flavored with Chambord, or Tia Maria, Grand Marnier or Frangelico. Carolina Voullieme León, Director of Sales & Marketing, Stacey Banfield, Marketing Communications Manager, and Sonam Sujan, Sales & Marketing Coordinator, for the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, are always perfect hosts, plying us with great wine and terrific food. And now you know why the local press always shows up at all of their events, in full force.
AMAZING TECHNOLOGY. I recently gave Peter Scholling some of my scanned articles from 1992, the year I started writing for the NEWS. Peter who is an adviser at the library, Arubiana/Caribiana department, stuck the USB into his computer and ran it by an Optical Character Recognition program called Omni File 18. The OCR program converted my stories into Word files, JPGs and PDFs in no time. I will give you time to digest: My old articles went from yellowing newspaper clips to computer files I can edit and save digitally. Is that jaw dropping??
