Mark Steward, Vice President Sales & Marketing recently had the distinct pleasure of announcing Nikki Simmons as top performer for 2008, the tenth-year in a row!
We met up with Nikki in the sales office, in the clubhouse of Divi Links and simply asked her how she does it. True to her laid back, Canadian roots Nikki reported it came naturally to her being a “People’s Person.”
As a major in economics at the University of Toronto Nikki came to Aruba on vacation in 1998 and found that she liked everything about the people and the place. She settled on the island and started growing where she was planted.
Divi Resorts offered Nikki an excellent position in its vacation-ownership division three minutes into her initial interview. The charismatic lady returned the favor by quickly becoming a top producer of over 4 million dollars in sales, each year.
Steward reports that Nikki’s success is not surprising. “She tailors our product to her customer needs,” he says, “and truly listens to what her people tell her, about their lifestyle and vacation dreams.”
“It’s not about the money with her,” he adds, “it’s about making people happy.”
Nikki willingly shares her philosophy about the importance of customer service and about maintaining present-time focus. And while she admits that her fellow sales-persons give her a run for her money, she openly states her desire to be #1, pushed by a strong drive to excel dating back to early childhood, compelling her to shine in everything she does.
Nikki has a long list of people she is grateful to, and she wanted us to mention them all. Her attitude of gratitude is second nature, and she is appreciative of her colleagues, her island and Divi Resorts for all the goodness she receives. Â
Executive Mark Steward, Paula Smith and Christy Garrido are pictured here congratulating Nikki on her phenomenal achievements. Joining in with the well-wishers, managers Rossi Wauben and Bernard Simon.
