Miss Universe Aruba

With the potentially fraudulent election results in Venezuela and the upcoming tight race to the US presidency, what we should really be talking about is Miss Universe Aruba.

There are six local contestants for the 2024 Miss Universe pageant to be held in Mexico in November, the 73rd edition of the competition. #missarubafanpage

Fans here were introduced to the contestants at an Inspirational Dinner & Show fundraising event, last weekend.

The finals, on August 10th, at the Marriott Aruba Resort & Stellaris Casino will present the contestants to an elegant audience. The evening will grant just one crown, that of the first-place winner, Miss Universe Aruba. Then she goes to Mexico, with our blessings.

However, additional lucky young women will get to travel to Miss Hispano-America, or Miss Supranational, at later dates. The New Star Promotion organization, which hosts the local pageant, maintains relationships with pageants from around the globe, and will match a candidate to another pageant requirements. The New Star Promotion organization has spread the message of Aruban beauty around the globe since 1964 and holds the franchise to other titles are well. It will possibly be sending two more representatives to showcase their talents abroad.

When you send the right candidate, with specific gifts, to the right pageant, explains Anoutcka Koolman-Burlsen, you see positive results. Giulia Brezovar, a natural, charming beauty, who impressed the judges with her impeccable five-minute speech, promoting the importance of reading at any age, in the event that she doesn’t land the crown on August 10th, would be a great candidate for an international pageant focused on strong communication skills, for example.

Post Pandemic, the international Miss Universe organization made the decision to remove age restrictions for contestants over the age of 18. This more inclusive format is implemented for the first time this year. Previously, the pageant restricted participation to women between ages 18–28, outside of special circumstances. Additionally, there will be no height and no weight restrictions, which has made the pageant much more inclusive and diverse. Single mothers or married young women wishing to compete, are welcome.

Because of the more relaxed format, fashion model Anouk Eman is taking part, for the second time — she was a runner up last year, but polished and poised, she is returning to the runway in 2024 as a strong contender.

The four other local beauties are Sasha Williams, Marie Sonise Elliassant, Irviljen Hato, and Naomi Croes.

According to Koolman-Burlsen, the pageant is forever evolving and looking to infuse a deeper meaning in the role of Miss Universe, using the platform to promote global issues, and change the world for the better.

On a personal level, the pageant aspires to promoted women who empower women and serve as role models. A pretty face and figure are indeed assets, but charisma, drive and a dazzling personality are most important, they help contestants maximize their potential and emerge from the pageant a better version of themselves.
