Minister Oduber cuts the ribbon for San Nicolas’ Hollywood Smokehouse Diner

On Wednesday afternoon, April 13th, Aruba’s Minister of Tourism Otmar Oduber cut the ribbon on the doorway of the Hollywood Smokehouse Diner to mark its official opening in the San Nicolas community.  Minister Oduber is big supporter of the San Nicola area, recognizing its value and unique charms that make it an integral part of the island’s overall tourism product.  Owners Michael Bislick and his fiancé, Tina Causey-Escobedo, were honored by the Minister’s presence, and were excited to have him, members of his staff, and his guests join them for lunch.

The Hollywood Smokehouse Diner is Aruba’s first and only smokehouse, where Carolina-style pulled pork and Texas-style beef brisket are slow-cooked over hickory for more than 14 hours, and served along with classic southern side dishes.  Minister Oduber and his guests enjoyed a family-style feast that was capped off by the Hollywood’s decadent chocolate-pecan pie.

The Hollywood Smokehouse Diner is located in a historic building that has been in Michael’s family since 1941, when it was opened as the Hollywood Hotel.  Michael and Tina are proud to be a part of the San Nicolas community, and are already seeing their vision of helping to promote San Nicolas to the visitors to our island come to fruition, as the word is spreading quickly and tourists are already making The Hollywood Smokehouse Diner and an afternoon in the community of San Nicolas a part their Aruba vacation experience.  Many in the local community are also enjoying this smoked barbecue cuisine at affordable local prices.

The Hollywood Smokehouse Diner is located in the heart of San Nicolas at Helfrichstrat 63.  For more information, call 733-3650.
