Magic Mango showed up mid-pandemic and brightened up my life, when I needed liquidity support most. Almost two years since, Mango Orange, a flavor-forward beer had just been introduced, and while my heart belongs to Magic Mango, I liked Mango Orange a lot, it is fresh, refined, and sweet citrusy. It glides down easily!
The launch at the VIP Lounge @Gloria got together invited guests and members of the press who were the first to experience the newest beer by Balashi brewery, made in Aruba.
Don’t go rushing to the supermarkets today, to try experience it yourself. Balashi will be distributing Magic Orange at its top bars first, top supermarkets the following week, then it will trickle down to cover the entire island. Meanwhile you can think about it, and imagine what it tastes like after opening the beer bottle crown cap, hearing the sound effect as you let the cap fall down, then pour, and finally, sniff, sniff, taste, gulp. Yum.
Balashi’s German born brew master, who lists among his accomplishments involvement with Polar, and Polar Ice, came up with nine possible recipes for the new fruity beer, which were tasted diligently, starting at 10am, says Managing Director, Warren Stanely, when taste buds are awake and aware. The testing/tasting process took the possibilities down to just two, then the less beer, more orange version won all hearts.
In my life, Magic Mango goes well with food at Po-Ke Ono and Bantam Bali, goes well with Sunday morning post-gardening fiesta, and Magic Orange seems even more suited to sushi and Indonesian dishes, and mixes nicely with more orange juice for a Beer-Mosa! I will road test it next Carnival!
Here is what Balashi says: On Wednesday, February 9, 2022, the much-anticipated launch of the newest flavored beer in the Magic family of brews from Balashi Brewery was introduced during a reception held at the VIP lounge at Gloria Theatres. Magic Orange will be available in March in selected supermarkets, bars, and restaurants in 7.4-ounce bottles, and later this summer on draft and in cans.
The beer is a hazy Aruban Pale Ale (alcohol/volume 5%), and the second beer added to the Magic family. This refreshing honey-colored brew teases the nose with the crisp zest of bright citrus aromas tempered over whiffs of malt coming through on the head. The hazy brew is smooth and easy-drinking, delivering a lively balance of tartness and light, juicy-orange sweetness with just enough hops on the tongue to add some depth to the finish.
Balashi Brewery launched the first Magic-branded beer, Magic Mango, in 2020. Originally conceived as a limited special edition brew, the popularity of the beer demanded a permanent place in Balashi’s profile of beers that includes the original Balashi Beer and the beach-time favorite, Chill.
“Aruba is making a name as a foodie’s paradise, and with the exploration of cuisine comes the exploration of uniquely crafted, local beverages…the Magic family of beers will continue to grow with new fruity editions, matching the moment and the consumer’s desire for authentic, locally crafted brews to discover,” shares Warren Stanley, Managing Director of Balashi Brewery.
The initial batch of the Magic Orange brew is 4,200 cases and is being offered at a special price
