Let’s Go Fly A Kite

The Kiwanis organized a Kite Flying event on the sport field of Calabas with 95 kites competing in originality, design, construction, airworthiness and beauty. This is the 34th year of the popular event, held as part of the festivities in honor of Queen’s Birthday on the island. The Kiwanis added some DJ music and a BBQ to go with the excitement of the day and trophies for winners.

Taken out of Mary Poppins, Banker George Banks explains it best: With tuppence for paper and strings, you can have your own set of wings. With your feet on the ground, you’re a bird in flight! With your fist holding tight, to the string of your kite! Let’s go fly a kite up to the highest height, let’s go fly a kite, and send it soaring, up through the atmosphere, up where the air is clear, Oh, let’s go fly a kite!
