The Caribbean’s most popular vacation cocktail, invented in Puerto Rico in the 50s or 60s, is undoubtedly the Piña Colada – made of rum, coconut cream or milk, and pineapple juice. The iconic cocktail has recently been refreshed by Hilton’s mixologists in partnership with Bacardi and are available at a number of Hilton properties in the Caribbean for a limited time.
The desire to refine the original Piña Colada, resulted in three special contemporary renditions. The Skinny Colada boasts all the flavor of the original recipe with fewer calories. The Coco-Mango Colada adds the fresh, sweet mango taste to the party, while the Banana-Piña Colada is a match made in tropical heaven.
The Skinny Colada, made with Bacardi Limon Rum, Bacardi Gold and Pineapple Juice substitutes the rich Coconut Cream with lighter Coconut Water. The Coco-Mango Colada made with Bacardi Superior Rum, Bacardi Limon, Pineapple Juice, Coconut Cream, Heavy Cream, and a squirt of Lime Juice, includes a special ingredient which lend the drink its name, diced fresh mango. The new Banana Pina Colada calls for Bacardi Superior Rum, Bacardi Gold Rum, Pineapple Juice, Coconut Cream, Heavy Cream, a whole banana, and a squirt of Vanilla Syrup, nicely blended until smooth.
All three cocktails are available at Gilligan’s Seafood Shack and Castaways Bar, facing the ocean on the resort’s pool deck. The bartenders at the bar will bring this Bacardi specialty to life, every time you order.
