La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club presented its promenade-side restaurant, Las Ramblas this week. A group of the resort friends, most of them hospitality executives and members of the local business community dropped in for a tasting, as guests of General Manager Joe Najjar and at the end of a most-enjoyed evening gave executive chef Sonny Partodikromo and Food & Beverage Manager Pierre Kock, an enthusiastic round of applause.
Las Ramblas features Spanish cuisine is general with a Catalan / Mediterranean slant. Guests started their culinary journey with delicious smoked eel canapés and fresh brusketta. Dinner was then served under a canopy of stars, in view of the beach and the gently swaying palm fronds, in a most romantic setting.
Guests enjoyed a delicious seafood escabeche, followed by a delicate crab crepe, chased by fragrant saffron paella with grilled shrimp, and trailed by a happy marriage of grilled filet mignon, and lamp chops with garlic-laced vegetables.
The dessert featuring a chocolate medallion, a raspberry mouse stack and a wedge of cheese cake with fruit coulis was beautifully presented, a testimony to Chef Sonny’s culinary competence and artistry and to the many talents of his culinary brigade.
Free flowing wines and caring and attentive service, marked the evening as a complete success.
Las Ramblas is now open for dinner nightly serving Spanish and Mediterranean specialties, all cooked on an open fire grill, in the garden of La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club, tucked behind the Islander’s Grill.
