The Annual Song Festival organized by the social committee of La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club presented a spectacular variety show culminating with Lionel Richie’s “All Night Long,” recreated with the help of resort associates.General Manager Joe Najjar played the part of Richie brilliantly in tight leather pants and a fire-engine red shirt, sporting the singer’s 1983 short afro-style hair. The dance tableau incorporated break-dancers, African dancers, hippies, Sandra & Danny from Grease with the Pink Ladies and the Burger Palace Boys, Police and a baby girl, all taking turns in showing off flashy dance moves, to dazzling lights, under a cloud of confetti, delivering dives, jives, and hip gyrations as choreographed by professional dancer Annemarie.
Fellow associates, family members and the general audiences appreciated the creativity and spunk, the total expression of joy and team work, unfolding at the Renaissance Convention Center on Saturday night.
The Song Festival titled “Reach Out and Touch,” features fifteen singing stars of La Cabana in two musical categories, professional and amateur. The program also included a “Bathroom Singers” play-back show which had the audience rolling with laughter.

A percentage of all ticket sales went to a local not for profit foundation, Adapta un Adicto, whose goal is to send addicts and homeless drug abusers to treatment in the Dominican Republic.
