Jibison is the new salsa sensation at Garufa

For the past few weeks, Saturday is Salsa Night at Garufa cocktail lounge with the new musical combo, Jibison, with popular local vocalist Anna Para.

The ensemble was put together by musician at heart Nino Kelly, famous for his baby back ribs at the end of main-street. The band played on his open air terrace for a while as Jibison 4, with just four musicians, before it was discovered by David Gross Garcia the manager of Garufa Cigar & Cocktail Lounge who invited them to play at the club.

Kelly who is the band’s bongo player reports that the original band members brought some of their friends along and that is how the ensemble grew to six and even seven, on special occasions. Piano man Lucho Argote, the band’s musical director is currently working to expand the band’s repertory to play contemporary Latin rock/pop favorites by Juanes, and Maná for example, in addition to the band’s excellent Salsa, Merenge, Bachata and Cuban style Son Montuno hits.

Jibison recently released its first single recording which is doing very well on the air, and is played often by the local radio DJs.

Check the band out at Garufa this Saturday, but come early as seating is limited.

Enjoy DJ Mixing, complimentary snacks, or buy your favorite bottle at a special price!

Garufa’s extensive bar menu lists many hard-to-find beverages, including premium vodkas, sipping tequilas and rare scotches, with more than 60 signature martinis, and a fine selection of Champagne. For the cigar aficionados Garufa carries the freshest of cigars, Cohiba, Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta, which may be enjoyed with favorites, from among an impressive selection of high-end single malts, cognacs and ports, in combination with one of the famous El Gaucho Snack Platters.
