Operated by Instituto Biba Saludabel y Activo, IbiSA, Aruba’s Bus di Salud has been making the rounds among schools and neighborhoods since it was introduced by the government in 2012. The dedicated Bus Di Salud personnel sees between 4,000 to 4,500 people each year.
For the upcoming 2016, Botica di Servicio pledged to support the bus with all testing materials and allocated funds for fuel, to keep the mobile health-care unit on the road, and in service of the community. Botica di Servicio also support the Bus Di Salud with qualified health-care workers to help meet the public’s demand.
On board the bus, a doctor, a nurse, and a driver, do the rounds during four days each week, inviting local residents to drop in without an appointment, and receive a consultation, free of charge.
While receiving the consultation, locals are offered BMI, Body Mass Index testing, as well as Blood Pressure, Glucose and Cholesterol testing. They are also invited to talk about their concerns with the health professionals on board, and discuss their risk factors for diabetes and heart disease. As their weight is taken, locals are given recommendations regarding life style and exercise, and their consumption of Tobacco and alcohol are evaluated.
Botica di Servicio make all that possible, shouldering their social responsibilities, and subsidizing the cost of bringing health care to the people, in a modern fully equipped mobile health-care unit.
