How will we pay our bills?

I have just received my water and electric bill for September, a peak consumption month.

It was hot like hell, and I showered frequently, short showers, though, watered the plants, and kept the AC at a modest 24degrees.

There is no way I can pay these bills without a payment plan.

They are scarily high.

They are unpayable.

It is insane.

How can people on this island survive with such high rates of utilities.

If we give up watering our plants, the temperatures will go ballistic.

I saved a press release of minister Glenbert Croes from September 20th in which he declared GOA remains determined to lower water and electric tariffs, I knew it will come in handy.

When I read it today, I say enough with this shameless talk.

In the press release he accused the former cabinet of Mike Eman for running on empty and leaving debts behind, but the current Wever-Croes cabinet has done ZERO to help that situation, reduce expenses and trim their own machine. GOA opted to milk its people for every penny they make.

How are we going to pay for those water and electric bills?

GOA is doing it best to reduce rates?

EAGLE LNG, said the Minister, it will save us.

His trip to Ecuador, to the minister now jailed, will save us.

Hedging, he said. Well, that did not work out in the past.

It’s all empty words, aired at our expense.

The tender now in place will help reduce the expenses of buying heavy fuel oil and thus make money for WEB that could help reduce our utility prices??

Seriously? That’s a very doubtful long term plan, I am worried about the September bills

How are YOU going to collect these huge amounts from your clients?

The minister concludes the press release with a call to all those who appreciates GOA’s efforts to reduce the cost of living, to ignore destructive, negative comments.

Turn it all into positive thinking, he advises, show the skeptics GOA will deliver positive result, for its people.

What a bunch of BS. And the fact that the on-line media prints this kind of gruel is amazing.
