Greetings!
This year I am again helping the Koningin Wilhelmina Fonds (KWF) raise funds to continue its mission of combatting the dreaded disease that causes so many deaths and so much suffering in our community.
As with my other books that were published to help the Koningin Wilhelmina Fonds, “An Aruban in Libya” and its Papiamento version “Un Arubiano Na Libia”, all funds raised go to the KWF. One hundred percent. I do not receive one penny!!
Unlike the books about Libya, this one does not focus on one topic. It is rather a compilation of over 250 articles that reflect the history and culture of Aruba from a personal point of view, mostly based on personal experiences of the author, Clyde Russell Harms Sr. That is why many of the articles reflect my experiences as an avid athlete in different sports, my six years as Secretary of the Aruba Red Cross, my five years as Honorary President of the Aruba Music Festival and the almost three decades as President of the Aruba Scholarship Foundation).
Stories previously published in other books are not included in this compilation.
The great majority of the articles are in Papiamento, but there are also articles in English, Dutch and Spanish. All articles are “linked” in one way or another with Aruba. In the future, historians will be able to use this book as reference to this era.
I understand that Lilian Prince who has been directing the Koningin Wilhelmina Fonds for over thirty years is seriously considering retiring. This book will be dedicated to her and will add to her legacy of her commitment and zeal to help others.
