Frank Pedrozo of the Ackerman Group LLC, visited the island recently and gave a Personal Awareness Security Seminar. Many local companies among them Costa Linda Beach Resort, Casa del Mar, Radisson Aruba Resort Casino & Spa, Marriott Beach Resort, the Aruba Hospitality & Security Foundation, Caribbean Mercantile Bank, Several Staff Members from the Korps Politie Aruba, Gandelman Jewelers, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Special Security Services Bonaire took advantage of the opportunity to meet the crime prevention specialist, and hear from his experience how to prevent and prepare for possible home or business invasions, extortions and other related crimes.
Aaron J. M. Antersijn, Safety & Security Consultant of Security Solutions Consultancy, invited Pedrozo to come to the island a while back, and when the busy speaker finally had an opening on his schedule in October, the seminar was arranged.
“I had the opportunity to participate in a seminar given by Pedrozo,†Antersijn explains, â€and I realized how many things we can do on a daily basis to make ourselves a tougher target. Our actions can definitely prevent us from becoming victims of crime, big or small, and we should be more conscientious, as far as safety and security are concerned.â€
While both Pedrozo and Antersijn agreed that Aruba cannot be considered a high risk location, nevertheless with the island’s proximity to countries where violence is more prevalent, residents should be aware of their options.
The Personal Security Awareness Seminar was greatly enjoyed by those who attended it. A cocktail party at Moomba Beach introduced the speaker to the local press, the night before. The seminar on the following day unfolded at Radisson Aruba Resort Casino & Spa.
Antersijn who just recently attended the largest electronic Security Expo in the world, reports that his company will continue offering a series of residential/personal security awareness workshops in different island districts and will continue to teach CPR/First Aid, and Heart Saver Awareness Program, to service providers in the tourism industry.
