Grand Opening Morgan's Island

Morgan’s Island, Aruba’s brand new water park was open Wednesday afternoon offering a complimentary wet and wild experience to dignitaries and their kids.

Prime Minister Nelson Oduber joined Venezuelan investors Sergio Gallero and Sami Sheero of Impact Holdings NV and their Aruban partner Leoncio Croes addressing invited guests and cutting the red ribbon.

The 26,000 m2 park then opened and provided much-anticipated family entertainment to a great number of thrilled invitees.

Sales and Marketing Manager Michael Paesch acted as emcee as the short ceremony took place under a drizzling sky. The Prime Minister reported it was a form of celestial benediction as the Aqua Park was blessed by water from the heavens.

Oduber praised investors’ confidence and applauded their decision to open the state of the art facility on Aruba.

Local partner Leoncio Croes welcomed all invited guests and reported in a short address that the partnership has been working on the novel and exciting concept for the past four years.

Morgan’s Island features two slide & tube towers, the Dragon Revenge and the Buccaneer Tower with slides, 2 and 4-person tube rides, radical twists and kamikaze dips, domed funnels, an extreme competitive toboggan, and a 21-meter vertical drop, of the second tallest, second fastest, single-person, free-fall waterslide in the world.

A giant kid-dedicated zero-entry pool area with water spouts and slides, is designed to entertain the young ones, around the clock.

Don Tom NV, an Aruban company owned by Don de Veer & Thomas Miter is operating three excellent food outlets, the Black Pearl, a self service restaurant, the Jack Sparrow Bar and a dessert, coffee and ice cream terrace.

Morgan’s Island features giant double wave pools, with a wraparound lounging area for parents and family members, showers, changing and locker rooms, a game parlor and an infirmary.

Gallero reports that the park employs 25 people at present and at full capacity will employ over 60 highly-qualified and trained individuals, including resident life-guards at each of the pools and medical personnel.

The fully automated park, with modern parking, entrance and exit facilities and the El Corsario souvenir shop is affiliated with a worldwide organization of water parks and enjoys the endorsement of similar attractions anywhere in the world from Mexico to Spain.

With an investment of 14 million dollar the park is the biggest in Latin America and aims at entertaining kids and adults during the day and romantic couples at night with disco dancing around the double wave pools.
