Tierra del Sol Golf Course hosted a Golf Tournament over the weekend, however the strong prevailing winds played havoc with players’ golf balls for the duration of the day. Only one veteran golfer was able to keep his hat on long enough to break 80, on the course designed by renowned Robert Trent Jones Jr., the only 18-hole championship golf course on Aruba.
Winner of the gross division Dr. Hunt Riley shot 79, squeaking by young Maurice DeLisle who shot 80. Net Division winner Floyd Nedd with a net score of 71 was able to collect 500 Perennial Points in the windy conditions, sailing him up the point standings into 6th place overall. Dr. Hunt Riley now in the lead after his finish this weekend, only 3 points ahead of previous leader Jan Roeloffsvalk, and at a close third, Dr. Harold Hagens.
Conditions were very difficult, and scores showed it, reports Adam Williamson, Head Golf Professional, Tierra del Sol Resort Spa & Country Club. Players really seem to like this chase for the Perennial Cup, with the winner getting a free golf membership for 2013. Tierra del Sol and my team look forward to the coming tournaments, there is still a lot of golf left this year and everyone is still in reach of the cup.
Among other prize recipients, Closest to the Pin winners Nigel Nedd, Ted Noble, William van Ramshorts, Shine Helmen and Maurice DeLisle who received respectively, Dinner for two at Ventanas del Mar, Lunch for two at Ventanas del Mar, Mother’s Day Brunch for two at Ventanas del Mar, Swedish massage from Body & Soul Spa and a Sports Massage from Body & Soul Spa.
