General Manager Vasco Baselli is now moving on

Having worked in Aruba since May 1st, 2019, General Manager Vasco Baselli is now moving on to a corporate position with the Hilton as Area Vice President Operations, South America.

Last week, Team Members said Te Aworo to their GM who also became a dear friend, and a favorite chef. Over his years at the Hilton, Baselli enjoyed cooking for Team members on special occasions and holidays. He also did most of the cooking, aided by the kitchen brigade, at his farewell lunch.

Team Members report they developed a great working relationship with Baselli, and learned a lot under his leadership. He has been an exceptional leader and mentor, and his presence will be missed.

Baselli came to the 357-room Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino, from Lima Miraflores in Peru, where he oversaw the operation of that upscale hotel.

Originally from Germany, Baselli is an industry veteran and after doing an exceptional job in Aruba, he was offered a promotion to corporate rank.

While working here, the Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino garnered a great number of international awards and accolades, such as the 2021 Market Share Award, awarded for driving and growing market share through recovery and the 2021 Customer Award, awarded for outstanding customer experience and review responses for the year. In addition to prestigious property awards Baselli was personally awarded with the 2021 CALA General Manger of the Year and a Presidential Award of Excellence for the CALA region, with Hilton International.

Baselli will be taking more than three and a half decades experience to the Hilton‘s corporate world yet his ties with Aruba stand, since he owns a home on the island, and as an enthusiastic macro-photographer he is most attached to Aruba’s underwater world.

Last year, he even won top entry in a photo contest conducted by Fundacion Parke Nacional Aruba, FPNA, and Post Aruba to commemorate World Oceans Day, an international awareness day, on June 8th. He now has a stamp with his photograph of the tiniest, most difficult to photograph creature. It is the close up image of a sea snail shell, at Arashi.  Check out #vbaselli on Instagram,

Baselli, is an ocean advocate, he is most outspoken about sharks, busting many myths about their dangerous nature, we’re not on their menu, he says, we can coexist beautifully.
