Following a Successful Charity Golf Tournament, the official check presentation By Arion Wine Company & Papiamento Restaurant

The 13th Annual Wente Vineyards – Arion Wine Company and Papiamento Restaurant Golf Tournament concluded successfully with the recent check presentation to FHMD, Fundacion pa Hende Muhe den Dificultad.

“We’re very pleased with the results,” said Govert van der Hout,” the tournament attracted the maximum number of golf players and almost twenty generous sponsors, who contributed enthusiastically to a great social cause.”

Arion Wine Company organizes the exciting tournament annually, with the active participation of Eric Wente, of Wente Vineyards, as the golf tournament host. Together with Papiamento restaurant the partners present a multi-tiered event over the course of one weekend each April.

The 2018 tournament opened with a golfers’ cocktail reception, over delicious bites and free flowing wines. Eric Wente greeted guests warmly and introduced the representative of FHMD, Fundacion pa Hende Muhe den Dificultad, the recipients of the collected funds, who shed light on the mission and work of the not-for-profit organization.

While on the island, Eric Wente guided a wine tasting with the students of the University of Aruba. The students tasted five of Wente Vineyard’s most popular varieties, Sauvignon Blanc, Louis Mel, Livermore Valley; Chardonnay, Morning Fog, Livermore Valley; Riesling Riverbank, Arroyo Seco, Monterey; Pinot Noir, Riva Ranch, Arroyo Seco, Monterey, and Cabernet Sauvignon, Southern Hills, Livermore Valley, all California wines, while Wente described the wine making process, and the work which goes into producing world famous products.

A full day of much-enjoyed golfing followed, with a 12noon shotgun start. Players were treated to classic lunch prepared by Papiamento Restaurant, paired with a nicely chilled bottle of Wente Vineyards. The tournament concluded with Julian Tucker and Maurice v/d Linden in the lead, Axl Ismael and Alexandra Brown in second place, and VJ Luidens and Gerald Sarmiento, in third.

At the award banquet at Tierra Del Sol, on the pool deck overlooking the California lighthouse, at sunset, players enjoyed a buffet of soups and sandwiches as Govert van der Hout, Arion Wine Company, and Golf Pro James Kiley, of Tierra del Sol, handed the attractive awards and prizes to the winners, who posed with Eric Wente for a souvenir snapshot.   

While the date for next year ‘s golf tournament has not been set yet, preparation is already underway.
