Eat and Play like a local survey

The 21st edition of Island Temptations magazine, currently available in major hotels, popular cafes, restaurants and select retail outlets is the Fall/Winter 2008-09 edition and the culmination of the magazine’s Eat & Play like a Local survey that ran in the Papiamento newspapers, on internet, and radio airwaves all summer long.

Island Temptations magazine had tremendous community support, and with that the magazine was able to put together a really fun and light-hearted exploration of local culture that tourist will enjoy.

Pictured here local businesses receiving their awards Justy Lopez at Pastechi House on the main street, winning for Best Pastechi – they now have a branch in Curacao, a 2 story Pastechi House in the heart of Punda, also offering a game room and an ice cream parlor. Hans Notten and his Dutch crew at the Plaza Café, Renaissance Marketplace, winning for the Best Place to watch Futbol; Happy Spot at the end of the main street where Xinia Oduber-Madriz accepted the award for Best Batido – she reported that visitors frequently arrive to try her fruit drinks and even ask her to sign the magazine where her picture is, then she feels like an actress granting an autograph. Xinia accepted the award on behalf of owners Paul and Elaine Gibbs. Abelo Andrade at the busy Welcome Snack on de la Salle street, accepted the award during his lunchtime rush hour, as the winner of Best Snack Shack, and La Granja, winner Best Ethnic Restaurant, where manager Armando Sotelo proudly accepted the award and immediately hung it at the entrance.

Stand by for more winners to come, in more categories.
