Aruba’s Dr Richard Visser, www.simplyh.com, a recognized international expert on childhood nutrition and health specializing in childhood obesity was guest of the Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority as it staged the first International Natural Health Products and Green Expo, BINHPGE, from the 5th to the 7th February, 2009. The expo was held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
With a goal of promoting well-being and holistic lifestyle practices, BINHPGE was a joint venture between Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority (BECA) and Mind Body & Beyond LLC (USA), producer of the Mind Body & Beyond Expo, an event annually held in Los Angeles, California. It is the first time for Mind Body & Beyond LLC to make its foray into the global market by holding the inaugural BINHPGE 09 in Bahrain.
The Bahrain International Natural Health Products & Green Expo 2009 enjoyed 42 select exhibitors from USA, Austria, UAE and the Kingdom of Bahrain, and Dr Richard Visser presented his Toddler Health, a line of quality products among them a nutritious drink mix for young children, which is easy-to-prepare, designed for children 13 months to 5 years of age. This delicious, all-natural product helps busy parents start their toddlers on the path of good health.
Visser reports that his hosts felt that coming from a desert tropical island he understands the challenges of introducing physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle into hot climates. The kingdom, Visser adds just embarked on a mission to promote awareness and respect for healthy and good living, and is struggling to introduce a new attitude in regards to food, and its direct connection to health. The Middle East, Visser states faces a growing threat of diabetes, heart disease and hypertension, caused by weight surplus, and lack of physical activity. Local foods are saturated with fats and sugars and the national dress code helps hide the extra pounds.
Bahrain is an island microstate in the Persian Gulf. It is connected to Saudi Arabia to the west by the King Fahd Causeway, which officially opened on 25 November 1986. Qatar is located to the southeast across the Gulf of Bahrain. The planned Qatar-Bahrain Friendship Bridge will link Bahrain to Qatar as the longest fixed link in the world.
Bahrain’s king is His Majesty Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The microstate has 760,168 residents with 469,553( 61.8%) nationals and 290,615 (38.2%) non-national, speaking Arabic, English, Farsi & Urdu, which contributes to the tolerant, cosmopolitan atmosphere in the kingdom which also hosts U.S. Naval Support Activity.
