On Thursday evening, an elegant affair for the directors of SITE was held at Divi Resorts flagship restaurant, Windows on Aruba. The event was co-hosted by the islands premier destination management company, De Palm Tours, and Divi Resorts. Both organizations were thrilled with the opportunity to entertain this important delegation during their annual International Conference 2009.
Aruba s relationship with SITE started 32 years ago, said Lisette Malmberg of De Palm Corporation, when SITE held a board meeting outside the USA for the first time, and chose Aruba for the international gathering. Today, 32 years later, we meet again, with the two men who were instrumental in orchestrating that milestone, chairman of the De Palm Corporation board, Harold Malmberg and hotelier Chris Perks, among us. De Palm Tours, she stated, will be celebrating 50 years of providing island clients and guests with exceptional memories of fun-filled days and exciting night themed events on Aruba. De Palm has grown to be the most complete destination management company in the Caribbean, she added.
SITE is a global network of meeting, travel, and event professionals with more than 2,100 members in 87 countries. Aruba was proud to be chosen as the host destination for this conference, as members of SITE represent the top professionals in their arena of business.
Thursday evening s event included a cocktail reception with the official welcome from Lisette Malmberg of De Palm Corporation and Alex Nieuwmeyer of Divi Resorts, entertained by a fun hole-in-one golf contest offered by Divi Links.
Dinner at Windows on Aruba immersed the VIPs in an ambiance of spectacular panoramic views and a chic island decor. Innovative dishes were created by Windows European culinary team seasoned in cutting-edge cuisine and novel presentations. Entertainment was coordinated by Fernando Mansur of Mosaic and included live Indian statues, a Soprano singer and guitar entertainment with Iwan Jansen.
The SITE conference, themed Business without Boundaries, will continue on the island through November 2nd.
