Changing of the Guards at ATSA

In a recent Aruba Timeshare Association meeting, outgoing president Luigi Heredia, Costa Linda Beach Resort, introduced his successor Sulaika Kelly, Playa Linda Beach Resort, to members of the association.
The business meeting, a quarterly update attended by all ATSA members, took place at La Cabana Beach Resort & Casino, over lunch and refreshments, with Minister Arends, Minister of Integrity, Nature, Transport and Elderly Care, and Anthony Rojer, Utilities NV, as special invited guests.

ATSA was formed on September 29, 1994, to provide its members and their employees with education, information, facts, and aid which may be useful to the improvement of their businesses or the time-share industry in general.

President Luigi Heredia served the association for almost six years, promoting the image of the time-share industry on Aruba and the services provided by its members to their customers, doing all that was necessary, useful, and desirable to navigate the tough realities of the pandemic and the post pandemic tourist industry recovery.
As he handed the reigns of the association over to Kelly, he said: It has been a pleasure serving as president of the Aruba Timeshare Association for the past 5 1/2 years. It was a remarkable journey and life-changing experience, particularly during the challenging COVID-19 period.
As an association, ATSA managed well and ensured a safe and stable environment for our members and guests, who showed their unwavering dedication to Aruba.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the ATSA membership and its board for their solid support of my leadership during my tenure at the helm.
While I am stepping down as president, I look forward to continuing contributing and serving, as a board member. Thank you all for your trust and cooperation.
Kelly accepted the challenge of becoming the association’s new president saying: I am honored and thrilled to assume the role of ATSA President, becoming the first woman to hold this position. As I step into this leadership role, I am committed to building upon the solid foundation laid by my predecessors, Luigi Heredia.
I would like to take this opportunity and share my vision and priorities:
Continuity: I will ensure the continuation of the excellent work conducted by earlier leaders. Our collective efforts have contributed significantly to the growth and success of the timeshare industry.
Advocacy: I am enthusiastic about all issues that directly affect our industry. Whether it’s regulatory challenges, market dynamics, or sustainability initiatives, I will advocate on behalf of ATSA and its members.
Collaboration: Success lies in collaboration. I look forward to collaborating closely with stakeholders, industry partners, and government bodies. Together, we can address challenges, seize opportunities, and drive positive change.
Community Engagement: Supporting community initiatives is essential. ATSA has a vital role to play in fostering positive relationships within our industry and beyond. Let’s engage with local communities, promote responsible tourism, and give back.
Education and Mentorship: As part of my commitment to the future, I will actively take part in shaping the career paths of students within the hospitality industry. Mentorship and internships programs will be key focus areas.
Research and Impact: In addition to educational goals, we will conduct targeted studies on the economic and labor market impact of timeshare. By gathering data and insights, we can make informed decisions and contribute to the industry’s sustainable growth.
Sustainability Commitment: I recognize the critical role that sustainability plays in our industry’s long-term success. ATSA will champion environmentally responsible practices, promote eco-friendly initiatives, and encourage our members to adopt sustainable business models. Together, we can create a positive impact on both our industry and the planet.
I am excited about the journey ahead, Kelly added, and look forward to upcoming teamwork. Together, we can elevate ATSA and create a brighter, more sustainable future.
