Carla Schipper, from Aruba, wins Week 3 of the Heritage Cup Tournament

Carla Schipper, one of the golf course’s valued, regular golfers, won the Week #3 round of the Heritage Cup, presented by Johnny Walker, unfolding at Tierra del Sol, Golf Resort & Country Club.

“Aruba is known for two things,” says Golf Pro Adam Williamson, “sunny skies, and gentle trade winds from the northeast.  Well,” he banters, “sunny skies was correct, but the gentle trade winds measured over 35 mph, making Tierra del Sol’s golf course play similar to playing The Open at The Old Course of St. Andrews, which is taking place this week.”  “The tournament,” he comments, “was not a game of performance Saturday, but a game of survival. One of which did so with a 1 point victory over the field.”

At the end of the day, the winner, Carla Schipper, scored 35 stableford points, and made a tremendous leap over other players, putting her into 2nd place in the overall ranking.  Second place Floyd Nedd with 34 points, also made a good jump to 4th overall.

Third place Benno Oldenhof with 33 stableford points, landed in the top 10.

Who will stay within reach of the Johnnie Walker Heritage Cup?

“We have a month to wonder, and a month to prepare,” Williamson concludes.

Winner of Nearest to Hole #7 was Hunt Riley.

Nearest to Hole #17 was Harold Hagens.

The next round of the 2010 Heritage Cup presented by Johnny Walker and the Aruba Trading Company is on August 21st, at Tierra del Sol, and Williamson expressed great satisfaction over the proceedings so far, looking forward to seeing what transpires in the upcoming legs of the race.
