It is with great pleasure that Arion Wine Company announces the return of Aruba’s most popular Charity Golf Tournament, on Saturday April 7th, at Tierra del Sol Championship Golf Course, with a shot gun start at 12:30pm.
Aruba’s golf fanatics are invited to participate, have fun while raising fund for Fundacion pa Hende Muher den Dificultad, the foundation benefitting from tournament-proceeds this year.
The tournament’s guest of honor, winegrower Eric Wente, of Wente Vineyards, California, who lends his name to the event, will be on the island to attend a series of pre-tournament events, and will play the 18th hole course on Saturday.
On April 4th, Eric Wente will conduct a special wine tasting class at Arion Wine Company for University of Aruba’s hospitality students, from 3:30pm until 4:30, designed to educate and inform hospitality students and broadening their knowledge of wine, under the guidance of Thais Nierop,
Then on April 6th, Papiamento Restaurant is hosting a cocktail reception in honor of players and sponsors, introducing this year’s charity of choice Fundacion pa Hende Muher den Dificultad, with chairwoman Suzette Kock, on hand to elaborate on the foundation’s mission.
The afternoon of April 7th will be dedicated to championship golf and just before sunset, an award ceremony will recognize the tournament winners at Tierra del Sol Golf Club, with Eric Wente as the award presenter.
The three-way partnership – Arion Wine Company, Papiamento Restaurant and Wente Vineyards – has been very successful in raising funds on the island for the past years. Eric Wente’s visit this year is very special in light of the fact that it is his 15th consecutive time. He’s been spending time, training and expanding the horizons of F&B professionals here with great enthusiasm and utmost dedication. As the Chairman of the Board at Wente Vineyard he tirelessly serves as brand ambassador crisscrossing the world to promote his palate-pleasing, quality wines.
Wente Vineyard, he explains, has continuously operated, a family-owned winery, for 135. The business is lead today by the fourth and fifth generations of the Wente family. As wine makers, the family blends traditional, innovative and scientific winemaking practices, so that the winery consistently maintain its leadership role in the California winegrowing community and produces an outstanding portfolio of fine wines.
Located just east of San Francisco in the historic Livermore Valley, Wente Vineyards is recognized as one of California’s premier wine country destinations, featuring wine tasting, fine dining and championship golf.

Raised at the winery, he is proud of his own two children, Christine and Karl, who are both actively involved in the family business as Fifth Generation Winegrowers.
