An evening of Glamour and Glitz presented by Miss World Aruba 2010 Kimberly Kuiperi & Mageia Italian Boutique

Mageia Italian Boutique recruited the island’s best talents to make the annual Summer Fashion show spectacular. Set up by the High Performance Group and designer/decorator Gareth Tromp, the L-shaped runway was lined with comfortable chairs on the terrace of Gianni’s Italian Restaurant, which filled with island Fashinistas.

Super model Kimberly and her best friends Angie, Casia, Zilha, Tracy, Sjari & Julieta showed off prêt-a-porter creations by Mageia’s Italian designers: Patricia Pepe, Paola Frani, Café del Mar, Tuwe Italia, Anya Bye and Miss Bikini, complemented by multi-function clutches and bags by Gianni Chiarini, and Patricia Pepe hats and accessories. The show was sweetly emceed by Joasey v/d Biezen.

The collection went back to the 80s and was trotted down the runway in color groups, taking off with tribal prints in shades of brown, and gold, blending into yellow and black, then champagne, pink, peach, red, lavender, grey, lilac and  finally sea-foam green, royal blue and tiel.

The very glittery collection presented very short dresses and shorts, as well as long, flowy, clingy dresses.

The pants were both skinny and over-sized, in the Sharwal harem pants style, also showing drop-crotch pants, so popular in the 80s.

Models wore head bands, and Julieta with her straight blonde hair, sported an authentic 70s look.

The fabrics of the collection were soft and feminine, and were also used in sashes and belts, tied low around the waist, or slung loose around necks, with an assortment of chain belts, and wide leather belts, adding to the nostalgic look at the fashion of three decades ago.

Angie even showed off a terrific Charleston dress, taking us back even further, to the roaring 20s.

Everything from cropped pants to bathing suits, and cover ups was loaded with payette and rhinestones, dazzling in the light reflections.

While many dresses showcased bare shoulders, or off-shoulder asymmetry, they also paid close attention to backs and arm, with plunging backlines and revealing open sides.

All models were phenomenal, Casia, celebrating almost 20 years of modeling, looks tremendous in bathing suits and dresses, while Sjari’s bad attitude, should be bottled, she is a fantastic model. Zilha adds some theatrics to her walk, which the photographers enjoy and Tracy adds vavoom to all clothes she wears.

Miss Work Aruba 2010 Kimberly Kuiperi who is going to compete in Vietnam in November reports that the fund-raising event was designed to prepare for the upcoming pageant. And while she did not pick a designer yet, she will definitely host another fashion extravaganza when her wardrobe is done. Kimberly, also reports, she will be escorted by her mom, her greatest supporter, on the trip to the Orient.

With make up and hair by Vice Versa and make-up artist Alexandra Ochoa, Kimberly looked radiant and totally present, meeting and greeting her guests warmly, then becoming the star of the runway, with the Mageia Summer collection. She is indeed a beautiful person inside out and her presentation was flawless.

DJ Theo Sanders created a perfect sound track taking us back to American & European Avant-Guard Rock and New Wave, mixed with post disco dance tunes from the Rolling Stones, Heaven 17, Human League, Velvet Underground to Depech Mode. He has a great sense of humor, which comes through in his mixing. The music went well with free flowing champagne by Romar Trading and most delicious hors d’hoeuvres by Gianni’s restaurant and the Ferrara family who generously made the extravaganza possible.
