A Taste of California Wines and US Pork

The Sunset Grille, the Radisson Aruba Resort Spa & Casino’s AAA 4-star rated restaurant introduced the special gastronomic menu served until July 6th, 2008, featuring great American signature pork dishes, as well as veal, lamb and quail.

This one of a kind Wine & Dine event is the creative masterpiece of the resort’s kitchen brigade under the lead of restaurant chef Maarten Smeets.

To truly make the meal unforgettable, a variety of wines from Kendall-Jackson Winery and Wente Vineyards were expertly paired by Govert van der Hout of the Arion Wine Company.

The Sunset Grille Restaurant marked the debut of the new menu with an elegant tasting also attended by Bill Blais, Vice President, and James Cutcher, Wine Educator, Jackson Wine Estates International.

The two visiting experts praised the novel menu items and commended the choice of wines picked to escort them.

The Taste of California Wines and US Pork at the Sunset Grille Restaurant was made possible thanks to the US Meat Federation, and US Pork who continuously strive to promote US products to chefs around the world, extending the global reach and appeal of American favorites.

Chef Smmets’ creative menu in honor of the Wine & Dine event includes pork quesadillas with wild mushrooms, roasted garlic and mango chimichuri; grilled semi-boneless quail, organic greens, foie gras-armagnac sausage, mango and black currents, and pork belly pot stickers with white truffle ponzu dip on the appetizer list.

The main courses feature delectable specials such as lamb osso bucco braised in red wine with tamarind and mint; black cod wrapped in prosciutto and roasted with escargot butter; loin veal chop with apple chutney, maple balsamic glaze, roasted garlic and spinach custard.

Arion Wine’s Martrude Rutgers, Sales & Marketing Manager, reports both Kendall-Jackson Winery and Wente Vineyards will be featuring their most popular selections by the glass or by the bottle. The selections are served in sampler glasses so that patrons may try the variety wines with their courses.

Rachel Noordermeer, Food & Beverage Director, Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino & Spa states the restaurant is open for dinner nightly from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., and that the famed spa cuisine of the Sunset Grille is also available.
