Gloria and Chris Destombes, said “I do†on Saturday at a civil ceremony, followed by a beach blessing, at sunset, at Pure Beach, as they celebrated their multicultural union on Aruba.
Gloria is a longtime Aruba resident, a well-known bartender and waitress, originally from Colombia. Chris, an electrical engineer from Holland, came here last year on vacation, and reports in his own words that “it was love at first sight;†he has been traveling back and forth ever since the two met, but as he popped the question they both decided to get married here and live in Holland.
Chris’ parents flew in on the occasion from the Netherlands, and Gloria’s mom arrived from Cali, Colombia. Gloria’s friends, long-time Aruba visitors Peggy & Kim also hailed from Maine.
Gloria who was her own wedding-coordinator-extraordinaire, created a dream wedding, and will continue to enjoy the hospitality of the Divi Phoenix Beach Resort with her fresh husband, on their honeymoon. Following the blessings the wedding party enjoyed a tropical dinner buffer at Pure Beach, the resort’s newest lounge bar & restaurant, and free flowing libations to the tunes of an excellent sax player.
