Third year EPI Hospitality Management students were offered an extensive program at the Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino, when they were received by various department-representatives for a well-orchestrated event in the Grand Caribbean Ballroom.
The resort’s Department of Human Resources briefed the visiting students regarding the hotel’s activities and shared the Hilton Chain’s illustrious history since 1919, when Conrad Hilton founded the chain when he bought his first property, the Mobley Hotel, in Cisco, Texas.
The students who follow four different career tracks: Administrative, Rooms, F&B, Sales & Marketing, were then able to make good use of the newly acquired information when playing Kahoot, as a group activity on their smart phones, for prizes and surprises.
In total 46 students got insight into the resort operations via testimonials and a Q&A session with EPI graduates who are currently employed by the hotel: Francis Wolff, Accounting, Gino van der Linden, Engineering, Jonathan Werleman, F&B and Jessica Valbuena, Revenue Management.
Later in the day they were experienced the resort first-hand by visiting various departments.
The graduates will be in great demand in the local job market and the Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino as part of Careers@Hilton Week, is showcasing the many opportunities available in the hospitality industry for young job seekers.
This initiative is a part of Hilton’s Open Doors commitment, which aims to positively impact at least one million young people by 2019 by connecting them to opportunities in the hospitality industry, preparing them to reach their full potential or directly employing them.
Hilton is on track to reach this target, with nearly 800,000 young people impacted through global partnerships, talent pipeline and local activations to date.
